Whatever happened to those old quips and idioms we used to hear all the time? Are any still around? Have we come up with new ones? Kathy Wire has created a new blogger tag for quips, idioms, catchphrases, adages, axioms, expressions, and lingo. Here are the rules:
- Come up with as many quips, idioms, and weird sayings as you can think of. Comb your (or someone’s) memory or the Internet for old or new; or, make up your own!
- Weave them into any kind of story – fiction, non-fiction, humorous, serious, thoughtful, or fluff – to post on your blog.
- Tag whoever you want to. Notify your tag.
LET’S CUT TO THE CHASE
A poem of idioms and quips by Amy Bount Nov. 2018
It was the straw that broke the camel’s back that sent me reeling into His courts.
Learning the hard way that you can’t always get what you want, had me all out of sorts.
Blind as a bat was I to what His love could really do for me.
Seeing eye to eye is where He needed me to be.
Going down in that water threw that old man for a loop.
Unsaved family were disapproving and asking for the scoop.
Like hens in a hen house, family gossip was a’flutter.
Amy’s finally done lost her marbles, were their whispers and mutters.
“Bite your tongues! Unless you’ve been there, done that, you’ll never know…”
“How God’s love has come and rescued me so!
Stop being a doubting Thomas and lose the chip on your shoulder.
And let’s cut to the chase…beauty is in the eye of the Beholder.”

Lol I kept overthinking it since you tagged me. Then I read your friend Christy’s response, it gave me all kinds of examples.
