Are you sober? Are you vigilant, keeping an eye on your six?
Your adversary has plans to put your soul in a tangled fix.
Walking about, seeking whom he may devour for his next snack.
Can you feel the hot blows of the lion as he breathes down your back?
That big ole nasty cat likes to play many games
And he knows each and every one of you by your names.Upon whom can you cast all your cares?
Disapproval, anger, sin, financial affairs…
Humble yourselves and let the Lord be your remedy
For not one of us is exempt from this prowling enemy.
Each time you let God fight and be the strength to see you through…
After ye have suffered a while, the God of all grace will make you
perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

For my dear sister, Kerry who asked me to write about this scripture.
“Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.”
Psalms 143:10-12 KJV
Just got through reading this. I believe what’s being said is we have to keep learning about Jesus. The more we learn, the more we become like him. And we know the blessing that He is. He’s elect. We can beHis elect if we elect Him. He’s precious. We learn this by His word and living for Him.
Stumbling at the word. I got to studying that. Whatever we choose is our choice. Judas chose to love his little secret place. It became so precious to him that nothing else mattered. Not even Jesus the Christ whom he walked with and heard His words daily. And just like those who allowed their seed to fall among the thorns, he choked to death. Literally and figuratively.

We can be his elect if we elect him…such truth. Seems in the helping of addicts…that if only they could see this is the absolute bottom line. Other that you said goes along with that whatever we choose is our choice. So many bound by addiction feel as though they have no choice. I wish there was a way to get this through to them in simple words, but it seems only through experience do we learn

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.”

Truth, rightly divided!
God wins. We win with God.
