I hijacked this tag…(yeah I did it again) but I couldnt resist. Matt came up with a good one y’all! And if you’re not on my list of nominees and wanna join…well have at it!
At the beginning of this decade I was addicted to 5 drugs. I couldn’t make it through a day without a handful of pain killers. I couldn’t make it through the night without marijuana and valumes to put me to sleep amd I couldn’t make it through the weekend without alcohol and cocaine.
God gave me a dream, I just know He did. He showed me what my life would be if I didn’t stop and come to Him. I went to church the next day.
In 2009 I got:
-Pregnant
-Married
-Baptized
-Filled with the Holy Ghost
We got an apartment close to the church. My husband and I got to know one another. Many tough times, but many fun times.
We bought our first home in 2012
Few months later our second daughter was born.
A year later my oldest graduated high school. Autism didn’t stop her from getting a core 40 diploma!
Over the years since I simply grew up. We tend to forget the state of mind and maturity of mind those who are addicted are in. We see them on the drugs and shake our heads. But remember maturity stops when the drugs start. I had been a 17 yr old until I was 35 yrs old. There’s many of our loved ones existing in this state of mind and maturity.
Matt’s questions for his nominees:
1- What was your favorite song or songs from this past decade?
It Is You by the Newsboys. Is older than a decade but I found it in my saved decade. Also Point To You…oh the words of this song; what a transformation they had on my life. This song helped me see the need to go to counseling, forgive myself and get to know me.
2- What was your favorite movie or movies from this past decade?
There’s been many but my most recent fav is Peanut Butter Falcon. I also really liked Adrift
3-What was your favorite book this decade?
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. Healing Ruby (series) so good…
And most helpful is Boundaries With Kids
Parents…especially those who came traumatic or uncertain childhoods, this book is a game changer.
I started this decade at 35 and end it at 45. What I wish I still had…
more brown than gray hair and a good thyroid.
I have gained a relationship with God. A best friend in my husband. A mom. A good friend(Miss Mandy!) who is always kind to me, even when I don’t deserve it. A chance to be a mentor to a young mom and learn more about myself along the way.(Ashley!) A church family. Confidence. Peace in my heart.
My questions:
1. Your age at beginning and at end of the decade?
2. What you wish you could still have now that you had then?
3. What you have gained in the last decade as a child of God?
4. Where do you see yourself in another decade?
My nominees: (and anyone else interested)
