Barnabas Award

You have been chosen for this recognition because of the encouragement and inspiration you bring to your readers.

The way this works: Thank the person who nominated you, and share their blog. Think of five bloggers that encourage and inspire you and nominate them. List five things about yourself. Lastly, ask your nominees five questions. Why five? Because it is the number that signifies grace.

5 Things About Me:

1. I recently decided to homeschool my two girls and begin in the fall

2. I live in the exciting state of Indiana…(where not much happens)

3. I’ve been blogging little over a year

4. I’m a huge Little House on the Prairie fan and have been brainwashing my daughters with it the past 3 weeks! 😉

5. My ten year marker comes up in Sept of this year…10 years married, drug and alcohol free, saved, baptized, filled with the Holy ghost. 2009 was an awesome year for me!

Thank you to Jacquie for the nomination! Check our her blog for encouragement!

Questions for me from Jacquie:

1. What do you do when trials come your way? As much as I’d love to tell you I first run to prayer, I don’t. I worry. There I said it! Then I pray and remind myself God is in control.

2. Who is your favorite author? hands down…Francine Rivers! Ladies, if you haven’t read one of her books…then start with the saga Her Mother’s Hope and Her Daughter’s Dream. Then get you Redeeming Love and a box of tissues.

3. Where do you find joy? Used to be in anything that came in a bottle, baggie or off a shelf. Now I find joy in my salvation. I find it in my marriage and with my children. I’ve learned, for some, joy takes work. You don’t wake with it, you choose it.

4. Where is your favorite place to write? I don’t have a favorite, really. A line will come to me in the shower, I run and grab my phone. A line will come while driving so I voice text it into my phone. I wrote 2 different posts this week while in the park, at the library and while dodging water at a splash pad.

5. What is your favorite writing genre? Christian historical romance…anything in 1800’s and back. Some WW2 and if it’s Francine, then whatever time she’s writing because she rocks!

My 5 questions:

1. What was the last thing said or done by another that encouraged you?

2. What was the last thing you did or said to encourage another?

3. Give the link to the most encouraging post you’ve read on  WordPress

4. Give link/lyrics or title of your favorite encouraging song

5. What is your all time favorite encouraging scripture?

  1. Whohooo!!! Congrats Amy on not just this award (which is awesome by the way) but on your remarkable transition from being a slave to sin to becoming a bondservant of Christ. Major big deal!!

I love your answers, they are so honest and refreshing. I also see you like Francine Rivers too – she happens to be one of my favorite author. Redeeming Love was so mooovvvinng! I listened and read the book just to make sure I didn’t miss anything 😉 Have you ever heard of Jan Karon? She too is one of my favorite authors.

By the way…thanks for the nomination 🥰

  2. This: “I’ve learned, for some, joy takes work. You don’t wake with it, you choose it.” I love that!
You are such a prime choice for this award! You are indeed an encourager.
And thank you for the nomination!!! Rather than creating a separate post for this, I’m posting here.
I once led an adult, special ed Sunday School groups. We called ourselves the Succorers.
    1. What was the last thing said or done by another that encouraged you?
That would be you, just now with this.
    2. What was the last thing you did or said to encourage another?
I wrote a poem for my son today.
    3. Give the link to the most encouraging post you’ve read on WordPress
Whoa! Too many! Even just the list of the bloggers I follow is long, and they all encourage.
    4. Give link/lyrics or title of your favorite encouraging song
Great is Thy Faithfulness – oh, how I love it.
    5. What is your all time favorite encouraging scripture?
Again, so many. But I often go to Ps 46.5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

I love you, my Amy! ❤

  3. Amazeballz!!! You’re such an encourager, this was meant for you. Thank God for 10 years of deep loving and commitment to you, and He’s only just begun to show you who you really are in Him! I probably should consider moving over to your end so my kids can attend your home school 😁
Francine Rivers! True. I got the two books you mentioned as a gift on my birthday some years ago and I still haven’t managed to read them, but yes, Redeeming Love was lit! I’ve read more of Liz Curtis Higgs’ books than Francine. I need to step up my game.
Well done, Amy. You are like a rainbow. You remind us that God, out of tough times, can bring something beautiful and make it shine.

    1. Well thanks my friend! Don’t go enrolling them here just yet! I gotta see if I’m cut out for it lol…I’ll have to check out Liz Curtis Higgs soon. I would’ve nominated you but you dont do awards anymore correct?

      1. I’ll really love to know how it goes. The idea freaks me out but the way the society is going and the educational system with it, it seems the most logical thing to do. So well done, you! And yes, I don’t do awards anymore, but thanks for thinking about me. I’m even more encouraged by that. Love you, sis 🤗

  4. You so deserve this Amy! Congratulations on 10 years!! That is a lot to celebrate. We have to figure out how to throw a party 🤔

Homeschooling is a smart move but not easy. There are of course pros and cons. For me though the pros out way the cons 🙂 Good luck!!

    Thank you for nomination!
