Sarah of Mine

I’m so very sorry my true and good friend

I know you didn’t want your father’s life to end

But here it is, here is the now

That you knew deep down would happen somehow

With your chin up, I know you’ll face this, you’re strong

But I also know he’s been your daddy, your hero all along

As the tears inevitably fall down your cheeks every night

Try to be comforted that sickness he no longer has to fight

He closed his eyes for the sleep he needed to get

He woke in heaven where he and Jesus finally met

As they pull up their chairs to the banquet to dine

Your father tells the father, “I’ll wait to eat until I see that Sarah of mine.”
